MONSTER POTTERY IS HANDMADE IN BOZEMAN, MONTANA
I have been an artist my whole life. I grew up experimenting with drawing, painting, and wood carving before discovering my love of clay while studying art at Montana State University. I couldn't see myself painting or drawing every working day of my life, but clay? You bet! After earning my BFA with an emphasis in ceramics, I entered the real world, and got a "real job" to pay the bills. I quickly worked my way up the ladder of a certain large retail store which shall remain nameless. A few years later I quit, withdrew my retirement account to buy a refurbished electric kiln, and started Monster Pottery.
Every piece of Monster Pottery starts out on the potter's wheel. Then I add parts, carve and sculpt the wheel-thrown pieces into the finished product. Everything is done by hand, with no slip-casting involved. Pieces are then bisque fired and glazed by hand in a three-step process involving under-glaze, wax and glaze. As a result, every single bowl, mug, vase and pitcher is unique, hand-crafted with love by me. My pottery is lead-free and food safe. My biggest hope is to bring something into your home that makes you laugh or smile every time you use it.
